Opportunity

How Do You Turn Operational Complexity into Software?

How do you know whether an aircraft is ready for deployment? How do maintenance activities, logistics processes, and workforce qualifications influence one another?

These are the kinds of challenges our software helps solve every day.

For more than 30 years, ILIAS Solutions has helped defense organizations gain visibility into these operational environments through a single integrated platform.

As the platform continues to evolve, new capabilities, integrations, and customer requirements continue to emerge. To support that growth, we are looking for an early career software engineer who wants to help develop software used by defense organizations around the world.

This role offers the opportunity to work on real software challenges while learning from experienced colleagues within an established engineering team.

Meaningful Work in a Mission Driven Environment

The ILIAS platform helps defense organizations manage maintenance activities, logistics processes, workforce qualifications, asset availability, and operational readiness.

The software supports people who rely on accurate information every day.

A maintenance manager needs to understand whether critical equipment is available. Operational teams need visibility into people, equipment, and activities to plan and execute their work effectively.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you contribute to the continued development of this platform while learning how software, data, and business processes come together to support real operations.

Working alongside experienced software engineers, architects, analysts, and product owners, you gain insight into how enterprise software creates value in complex environments.

Your Mission

Contribute While You Grow

You become part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for continuously improving the ILIAS platform.

Most of your work focuses on Java backend development, while also contributing to frontend development where needed. You support the team in maintaining, improving, and evolving software that is already used by defense organizations around the world.

This role combines learning, collaboration, and hands on software development within an environment where knowledge sharing and teamwork are central.

You create value by:

• Contributing to backend development using Java and Spring Boot

• Supporting frontend development where required

• Assisting with software migrations, upgrades, and platform improvements

• Maintaining and improving existing functionality

• Writing clean, maintainable, and well tested code

• Participating in code reviews and technical discussions

• Supporting software quality, reliability, and continuous improvement

• Collaborating closely with software engineers, architects, analysts, and product owners

• Contributing to team success through collaboration and knowledge sharing

Your Capabilities

What You Bring

You enjoy solving problems and understanding how systems work.

You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another analytical discipline.

You may be a recent graduate or have one or two years of professional experience.

Experience with Java, software development principles, databases, or modern development practices provides a strong foundation. More importantly, you are motivated to learn, contribute to a team, and continue developing your technical capabilities.

The real challenge lies in understanding how software, data, and business processes come together to support maintenance, logistics, qualifications, workforce readiness, and asset management.

You appreciate working together with others and understand that building enterprise software is a team effort.

Technology Environment

Our development team works with technologies including Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Oracle, React, Git, Maven, Docker, JUnit, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Mend.

The primary focus of this role is backend development, while also contributing to frontend activities where needed.

Build Your Future with ILIAS

Grow Through Capability and Innovation

As defense organizations continue to modernize their operations, the demand for reliable information and connected processes continues to grow.

The ILIAS platform evolves alongside these changing requirements.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you contribute to software that helps organizations connect information, improve decision making, and strengthen operational effectiveness.

Every new capability, integration, and customer challenge creates opportunities to expand both your technical expertise and your understanding of the operational domain.

Build Capability Over Time

Building enterprise software requires more than technical knowledge alone.

It requires understanding how software, data, business rules, and operational processes interact.

Working alongside experienced software engineers, architects, analysts, and product owners, you gradually build the technical and professional capabilities needed to take on greater responsibility within the team.

Supported by structured development opportunities and our Learning Management System, you gain visibility into future growth paths while continuing to strengthen your expertise.

Contribute to What Comes Next

As ILIAS continues to evolve its platform, new opportunities emerge to improve how defense organizations manage and understand their operations.

By combining analytical thinking, collaboration, and software engineering expertise, you help shape solutions that support defense organizations around the world.

About us

In defence operations, timing and reliable information shape every decision. Many organizations still rely on fragmented systems, limiting visibility and slowing execution. ILIAS Solutions connects logistics, maintenance, and operations into one integrated platform. This creates a single source of truth and enables teams to act on real time data across strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Large volumes of operational data move continuously between systems. This data reflects maintenance cycles, logistics flows, and asset readiness. Accuracy and consistency directly impact operational outcomes.
